This is the first installment in the quest to run 100 miles. Today I am starting fresh from a 1 month layoff due to an IT Band injury and sickness. In my opinion, the rest was needed and hopefully will payoff as I ramp up my training in preparation for my next race.

We are signed up for the 85k (52 miles) part of the Terawera Ultra in Rotorua, New Zealand in March 2013.
The training program we will be following is a combination of several different plans with a common theme. It will contain a couple of weeks of building up mileage, followed by an easier week with slightly reduced mileage to allow some rest. Since I have to work a full schedule each week, I will be tweaking the training as needed. A key to the training plan is going to be the long run scheduled for once a week.
