Sumbawa Saturday Run

My run on Saturday was a quick paced 3.4 miles. I was half thinking of running a bit more, but my reason for running longer was to reach a number goal of 1000 miles for the calendar year. It is a silly benchmark and not a smart reason to tack on more miles. Sure I want to reach the 1000 mile plateau. And I want to stay healthy. Adding on extra miles is not always the best idea. So I kept to my plan to run smarter, and ran a tempo type run of a shorter distance. Will I go out again in the last 2 days of the year? I imagine I will figure out a way to train smart and reach the 1000 mile mark. I only have to run about 6 more miles to get there. What are your thoughts?

  1. 2000+ miles is even better. As long as you can stay healthy, make your goal higher. I’m not sure where I read it, but I remember hearing that if your goals don’t scare you a little, than you are not reaching high enough.

  2. I hope that you can hit the 1000 mile mark! That’s a great mark to achieve! I made that my goal for this past year and was able to hit that mark. IT also helped that I was training for two marathons in the interim…

    • Thank you for the reply. Great job on hitting 1,000 miles. I guess I will go out for a run tomorrow and pass the mark.
      Let’s try for 1,500 next year?

      • Good goal! I will target 1,500 and hopefully next year at this time we will both be surpassing that mark :).

I will make that my target for next year, and hopefully we will both be surpassing it next year at this time :)….on second thought I just checked out this running log that I did with friends this year. I am the worst at keeping track of mileage, but she created a spreadsheet for us to enter our mileage in. I just realized I ran A LOT of mileage this past year! As of now I have completed 2,047 miles! I will probably run tomorrow and may run today. I suppose I will make my goal a little higher, since I ran so much in 2012. I’m going to have to think about this…
