Hi there, I stumbled on your site looking for places to run in Bali. I’m training for the Sydney marathon (21 September) and we have a holiday planned in Bali for a week from 29 August, which includes the Saturday I was planning to do my last 30km run before tapering.

We’re staying at Blahbatu and I’d love some advice on places nearby where it’s possible to do a decent length run. I’ve been to Bali before so am aware of the temp and humidity limitations, so plan to start run pre-dawn and will take camelbak and gels with me; the issue that concerns me most is the limited paths to run (and running on the road obviously not ideal given traffic).

I know the Bali marathon course is near where we’re staying – is any of it able to be run on a non-race day? Also aware there’s the boardwalk at Sanur (5km each way), but would like to do at least 20kms if possible.

Would love your advice, many thanks and good luck in your own training.

    • Hi Nathan,
Sorry it has taken me so long to see your letter.
I hope all went well for your runs and the Sydney marathon.
I am back into the running/racing now that I am relocated to Manila.
      regards,
      Mike
